Do you remember the day when someone came up to you and asked, “ Hey! First-year!”?

Yes! We all have those college moments. Many have been the butt of the jokes while seniors ragged them. Later on, they became friends, philosophers, guides, and helped you out in the examinations from the backyards or windows.

Our deliberate late arrivals irritated the first-period lecturers. We bunked college. Watched movies. Common room table-tennis deepened everlasting friendships. Computer lab catered us to research using the internet. The campus was missed in the vacations.

Mentors helped us get through the projects and practicals. The friendly Professors and Principal boosted us in our timidity before the finals.

Our Teachers’ Day skids sprinkled laughter all over. Annual fests witnessed your bestie passing out after her last peg. The sports made us heroes of the tournaments. Trophies won. We outperformed the other college bands in the rock contests and made the beautiful crowd go bonkers.

Confidant’s romance and our motivations for their heartbreaks, the intense emotions, the quarrels and fights, the easing parties on the nights before the exams, the painful fare well — in today’s harsh world, I still visualize those days of personal growth with superfluous freedom.
